Work Dedicated to the Lord (Wed. Nov. 9)

The word of the day is “work.”  In our reading of Colossians 3:17-4, St. Paul echoes the “Table of Duties,” (the roles of members of a household) that he taught the Ephesians (5:22-6:9). However, It is a shorter list that he gave to the flock in Ephesus. It omits the comparison of the marriage of husband and wife to the relationship of Christ and His Church, and it also excludes the duty of masters. But in this passage, Paul gives two general instructions that all the faithful should follow whatever their station in life.
