At the end of 2018, I was working for Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Cynthia Damaskos of Holistic Christian Life. I had just begun a whole-house decluttering project that was raising me up from out of a rut of despondency. We're very excited to be hosting the relaunch of Ancient Faith Today LIVE beginning Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 9:00 pm ET. We're working diligently to develop important topics and book interesting guests for our curious and informed listeners! Because it's a weekly live call-in show, everyone will have an opportunity to join the conversation.
We have been blessed from the beginning with good friends and steady growth, but this year is different. Because we value your partnership and your company on the journey, I'd like to begin 2018 by sharing what's happening and outlining our plans for the coming year.
Kevin Allen is a long-time program host, board member, and friend of Ancient Faith Ministries who was recently diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Here he shares his reflections on this time in his life. In May of 2016 I was diagnosed with spontaneous (not familial) amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. It is also known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease" after the baseball player who died of this disease in 1934. ALS is a complex, progressive and ultimately terminal motor neuron disease with a two-to-five year life expectancy. There are "alternative" therapies but none of them have been proven to cure ALS. My hope though is that they may reduce or postpone the degenerative symptoms while I prepare myself.
